The commission you pay a real estate broker is the budget that they have to work with to pay for marketing, advertising, compensate brokers representing buyers, hire professional photographers, pay office fees, and hopefully make a profit for themselves at the end of the transaction.
Some sellers choose to go with brokers who discount their commissions without realizing that what they are really doing is discounting the level of services efforts in selling their property. Discount brokers make profits too, so they afford the discount by slashing the expenses they would normally incur in selling your home.
